CERT-FR Warns of PHP RCE Flaws

routine vulnerability Technology

Free public brief. Slack alerts on the vendors you run come with the paid plans, and a new account gets three days of them, no card.

Multiple PHP vulnerabilities allow remote code execution; PHP 8.2–8.5 users should patch to the latest fixed versions.

CERT-FR issued an advisory covering multiple vulnerabilities in PHP that can allow an attacker to achieve remote code execution. The affected versions span the entire PHP legacy line (5.x through 8.1.x, all considered affected/unsupported) as well as current supported branches prior to specific patched releases: 8.2.x before 8.2.35, 8.3.x before 8.3.36, 8.4.x before 8.4.27, and 8.5.x before 8.5.12.

Two CVEs are referenced (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619), tied to PHP's own GitHub security advisories (GHSA-6wmf-4rv5-p3rp and GHSA-w8hw-w9fx-j79w) published alongside the official PHP security bulletins dated 21 October 2026. No exploitation in the wild is mentioned in the advisory; CERT-FR's recommendation is simply to apply the vendor-supplied patches referenced in the documentation.

Defenders running PHP should prioritize upgrading to the fixed versions noted above, especially for internet-facing or multi-tenant web applications where RCE in the PHP interpreter would have broad impact. Legacy PHP versions (5.x–8.1.x) are end-of-life and should be migrated away from regardless of this specific advisory, as they will not receive further security fixes.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries live profiles of the CVEs it names. The paid plans add the security research and news reporting the free tier leaves out.

It sits in a corpus of 13,839 reports from 141 sources, 522 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Slack alerts are a paid-plan feature: name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
