Qilin ransomware claims Hemmersbach compromise

high threat technologyretail

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Qilin ransomware gang claims to have compromised Hemmersbach GmbH, a German IT distributor, exfiltrating data.

Ransomware.live, a platform that indexes publicly posted ransomware claims, reports that the Qilin ransomware group has claimed responsibility for compromising Hemmersbach GmbH & Co. KG, a German IT distributor and reseller. According to the posting, the compromise affected 201 employee accounts, with 124 unique compromised users identified and 95 third-party employee credentials exposed. The group claims to have identified 143 points on the victim's external attack surface, including DNS records and other internet-facing infrastructure. The claim includes a leak screenshot, suggesting data exfiltration as part of the attack.

This report indicates that Qilin is actively conducting operations against mid-market IT infrastructure companies. The scale of compromise—particularly the exposure of third-party credentials—suggests lateral movement capability or supply-chain access risk. Defenders in the IT distribution and reseller space should assess their exposure to similar intrusion patterns, particularly around VPN access, email compromise, and multi-factor authentication bypass. The specific attack vector is not detailed in this public claim.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
