CISA flags actively exploited Windows, Ivanti flaws

high vulnerability government-national

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

CISA added two actively exploited vulnerabilities to its KEV catalog: a Windows command injection flaw and an Ivanti Connect Secure authentication bypass.

CISA has added two vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog based on confirmed evidence of active exploitation: CVE-2026-96951, a command injection vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, and CVE-2026-104935, an authentication bypass by spoofing vulnerability in Ivanti Connect Secure. Both vulnerability classes are frequently leveraged by threat actors to gain initial access or elevate privileges, and their inclusion in the KEV catalog confirms real-world exploitation rather than theoretical risk.

Under Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 26-04, Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) agencies are required to prioritize remediation of KEV-listed vulnerabilities on publicly exposed assets, particularly those granting full post-exploitation control, and to check for prior compromise before patching. While the directive is binding only on FCEB agencies, CISA recommends all organizations treat KEV-listed CVEs as high-priority remediation items. Defenders running affected Microsoft Windows systems or Ivanti Connect Secure VPN appliances should apply vendor patches immediately, review authentication logs for anomalous access, and assess internet-facing instances for signs of compromise predating patch application.

No technical exploitation details, threat actor attribution, or indicators of compromise are provided in this bulletin; it serves solely as a notification of catalog updates driving federal remediation timelines.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
