Ubuntu Linux kernel patches multiple privilege escalation flaws

Multiple Linux kernel vulnerabilities in Ubuntu 20.04 ESM and 22.04 LTS enable privilege escalation and data confidentiality breaches.
CERT-FR has published an advisory documenting multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel affecting Ubuntu 20.04 ESM and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. These flaws enable local attackers to escalate privileges, compromise data confidentiality, and trigger unspecified security issues. Ubuntu has released security updates USN-8620-3 and USN-8620-4 on 31 July 2026 to address these issues. Defenders running affected Ubuntu versions should prioritize applying these kernel patches. The advisory references over 200 CVE identifiers spanning kernel bugs discovered between 2022 and early 2026, indicating a substantial accumulation of kernel-level issues resolved in these updates.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
