CERT-FR Advisory: MongoDB Driver Vulnerabilities
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
CERT-FR warns of multiple vulnerabilities in MongoDB drivers (C, C++, Go, PHP, Python) and libmongocrypt enabling remote denial of service; no active exploitation reported.
CERT-FR published an advisory consolidating multiple vulnerabilities disclosed by MongoDB affecting various official drivers and the libmongocrypt library. The affected components span the C Driver (versions 2.5.x before 2.5.6 and versions before 1.30.13), C++ Driver (before 4.6.1), Go Driver (before 2.9.2), libmongocrypt (before 1.20.5), PHP Driver (multiple branches before 2.1.11, 2.5.4, and 1.21.11), and Python Driver (before 4.18.3). These drivers are widely used by applications to connect to MongoDB databases, meaning the vulnerabilities primarily impact client-side applications rather than the MongoDB server itself, though Ops Manager is also referenced.
The primary risk identified is remote denial of service, along with at least one unspecified security issue not detailed by the vendor. The advisory references a large number of CVEs (over 35) tied to individual MongoDB JIRA security tickets (CDRIVER, CXX, GODRIVER, MONGOCRYPT, PHPC, PYTHON series) all dated around October 8-9, 2026. No evidence of active exploitation in the wild is mentioned in the advisory.
Defenders running applications that embed any of the listed MongoDB drivers or libmongocrypt should prioritize upgrading to the fixed versions referenced in the vendor's security bulletins. Given the number of affected driver ecosystems (multiple languages), organizations should inventory which applications use MongoDB client libraries and verify driver versions as part of patch management, as transitive dependencies in application code may not be immediately visible to security teams.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
