Google patches zero-click Android RCE flaw

Google fixed multiple Android vulnerabilities including a critical zero-click remote code execution flaw (CVE-2025-48593) requiring no user interaction, affecting devices prior to November 2025 patch level.

Google has released security patches addressing multiple vulnerabilities in Android OS, with the most severe being CVE-2025-48593, a zero-click remote code execution vulnerability in the system's core components. This critical flaw allows attackers to execute malicious code remotely without any user interaction or additional privileges, making it particularly dangerous for widespread exploitation. Successful exploitation could enable attackers to install programs, view or modify data, delete information, or create new accounts with full administrative rights.

The vulnerability affects all Android devices running patch levels prior to 2025-11-01. Google's advisory highlighted the severity of this zero-click vulnerability, emphasizing its potential for exploitation without user engagement. A second vulnerability, CVE-2025-48581, also in the system component, could allow for privilege escalation. Both vulnerabilities can be exploited through client execution techniques as classified under the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Organizations and users are advised to apply the November 2025 Android security patches immediately after appropriate testing. The MS-ISAC has assigned high risk ratings across government, business, and home user segments, recommending implementation of automated patch management, regular vulnerability scanning, and user education on avoiding untrusted sources.
