Oracle patches 300+ vulnerabilities including critical RCE flaws
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
Oracle issued critical patches for 300+ vulnerabilities across 100+ products; remote code execution possible in multiple components.
Oracle released its January 2025 Critical Patch Update addressing multiple vulnerabilities affecting a broad range of products including database systems, middleware, financial services platforms, and communications infrastructure. The vulnerabilities span Oracle Database Server, MySQL cluster and components, WebLogic Server, GoldenGate, Java SE, Fusion Middleware, PeopleSoft Enterprise, Primavera project management tools, and dozens of Oracle Communications products. The most severe vulnerabilities enable remote code execution, affecting widely-deployed enterprise software across government, financial services, telecommunications, and manufacturing sectors. No indicators of active exploitation are mentioned in the advisory. Patches and mitigations are available immediately and should be applied following vendor guidance and appropriate testing.
Detection guidance
WebLogic Java Process Spawning Command Shell or Script Interpreter
Detects a WebLogic Server JVM spawning cmd, PowerShell, or download utilities on Windows, a common post-exploitation pattern after RCE against WebLogic. Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.
title: WebLogic Java Process Spawning Command Shell or Script Interpreter
description: Detects a Java process hosting Oracle WebLogic Server spawning a command
shell, PowerShell or common download/LOLBin utilities. This is a typical post-exploitation
pattern after remote code execution against a public-facing WebLogic instance. Generalises
on the parent/child relation, not on any specific CVE payload.

WebLogic Java Process Spawning Shell on Linux
Detects a WebLogic Server JVM spawning an interactive shell or download/reverse-shell tooling on Linux, indicating possible RCE exploitation. Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 614 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
