Siemens Mendix SAML module signature validation flaw

routine vulnerability manufacturing

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Improper cryptographic signature verification in Siemens Mendix SAML allows unauthenticated account hijacking in certain SSO configurations.

Siemens Mendix SAML module contains an improper cryptographic signature verification vulnerability (CVE-2025-40758, CVSS 8.7) in versions prior to V3.6.21 (Mendix 9.24), V4.0.3 (Mendix 10.12), and V4.1.2 (Mendix 10.21). The flaw stems from insufficient enforcement of signature validation and binding checks within the SAML authentication flow, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to hijack user accounts in specific SSO configurations. Attack complexity is noted as high, and no known public exploitation has been reported to CISA at the time of advisory publication.

Affected organizations should prioritize patching to the latest compatible version and ensure the UseEncryption configuration option is enabled as an interim mitigation. The vulnerability has worldwide deployment impact, particularly affecting critical manufacturing environments. Network segmentation and access controls remain essential defensive measures for ICS environments running these modules.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
