> Russian state-linked influence operations rapidly mobilized contradictory narratives and AI-generated content across US platforms following Maduro's capture.

Following the US operation that led to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's capture, Russia's established influence infrastructure pivoted immediately to target US-facing information spaces. Unable to materially support its Venezuelan ally, Moscow deployed a coordinated campaign across multiple platforms using fabricated media outlets, influencer networks, and content aggregation pipelines to inject conspiracy theories, antisemitic tropes, and deliberately contradictory narratives into US discourse. The campaign prioritized narrative saturation and confusion over coherent messaging, reflecting a broader Russian strategy of diluting online discourse as its capacity to support regional allies in Syria, Iran, and Venezuela has diminished.

Key operational clusters included Storm-1516, a Russia-linked influence network operating coordinated accounts, fake news websites such as VT Foreign Policy, and associated infrastructure like DD Geopolitics. The Pravda Network continued laundering Kremlin-aligned content through US-facing domains usa.news-pravda.com and trump.news-pravda.com, pulling from Russian state media and Telegram channels. Russian-language messaging emphasized geopolitical consequences and portrayed Maduro as a legitimate leader, warning that smaller states risk abandonment by relying on the United States. Russian military bloggers amplified commentary from convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout to frame US legal proceedings as politically motivated and US power as destabilizing.

The campaign's broader strategic objective is to erode Western confidence in US reliability as an ally, widen divisions within NATO, and reframe the rules-based international order as a facade for US power projection. Defenders should monitor for coordinated inauthentic behavior on X, Telegram, and mainstream platforms, watch for AI-generated or manipulated video content claiming to show Venezuelan reactions, and track narrative laundering through fake news domains and influencer redistribution networks.
