Siemens SCALANCE and RUGGEDCOM authorization flaws
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
Three authorization and race-condition vulnerabilities in Siemens industrial network switches allow authenticated guests to bypass checks and manipulate configurations.
Siemens has disclosed three vulnerabilities affecting 40+ variants of SCALANCE and RUGGEDCOM industrial network switches used in critical manufacturing environments worldwide. The vulnerabilities stem from incorrect authorization checks in the web management interface and allow an authenticated attacker with guest-level privileges to exceed their permissions in three ways: rolling back configuration changes made by administrators (CVE-2025-40567, CVSS 7.1), terminating other users' sessions (CVE-2025-40568, CVSS 5.3), and—via a race condition—loading attacker-controlled configurations during a legitimate administration operation (CVE-2025-40569, CVSS 5.9). All vulnerabilities require network access to the management interface and prior authentication as a guest user, lowering attack complexity. The flaws affect all product versions prior to V3.2. No active exploitation has been reported to CISA as of the June 2025 advisory date.
Defenders with SCALANCE or RUGGEDCOM switches in production should prioritize updating to V3.2 or later across all affected models. In environments where immediate patching is not feasible, Siemens and CISA recommend restricting network access to the management interfaces via firewall rules, VPN-only administration, and segmentation of control-system networks from business networks. Guest account creation and use should be minimized or eliminated where possible.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
