Siemens RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW SAC buffer overflow and DoS flaws
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
Three SQLite vulnerabilities in Siemens RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW Station Access Controller allow remote code execution or denial of service; upgrade to V5.7.
Siemens RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW Station Access Controller versions prior to V5.7 contain three memory safety vulnerabilities in the embedded SQLite database engine. Two are integer overflow flaws in SQLite's concat_ws() function that lead to heap buffer overflow with potential for arbitrary code execution (CVE-2025-3277, CVSS 8.3 v3.1) or out-of-bounds memory writes (CVE-2025-29087, CVSS 5.5 v3.1). The third is a denial-of-service vulnerability via the SQLITE_DBCONFIG_LOOKASIDE component (CVE-2025-29088, CVSS 7.5 v3.1). The most severe flaw, CVE-2025-3277, requires only network access and no authentication; an attacker supplying a large separator string to concat_ws() can trigger an integer overflow during buffer allocation, then overflow the undersized heap buffer with the full untruncated string, achieving code execution on the access controller.
The RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW SAC is deployed globally in critical manufacturing environments for industrial access control. CISA reports no known public exploitation in the wild as of the advisory date, but the remotely exploitable nature of CVE-2025-3277 (CVSS v4 6.9, AV:N, AC:L, PR:N) presents material risk to operational technology networks. Mitigation is straightforward: update to version V5.7 or later. Organizations should also enforce network segmentation, restrict internet exposure, and apply standard ICS hardening practices.

SQL concat_ws() Function Call in Web Request Query String
concat_ws() invoked in the URI query of a web request, a possible attempt to reach SQLite concat_ws integer-overflow flaws (CVE-2025-3277, CVE-2025-29087). Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.
title: SQL concat_ws() Function Call in Web Request Query String
id: 3a9ea38c-7d89-5ec4-9d41-4e1a2fb6f7da
status: experimental
description: Detects web requests whose query string carries a call to the SQL concat_ws()
function, in plain or URL-encoded form. The SQLite concat_ws() integer overflow
flaws (CVE-2025-3277, CVE-2025-29087) are triggered by attacker-supplied SQL with
an oversized separator string, so this may indicate an exploitation attempt against
embedded SQLite in an exposed web management interface. Unusually long query strings
strengthen the signal. Generalises on the function name, not on specific payload
content.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
