> Juniper fixed 15 vulnerabilities across Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved, several allowing unauthenticated remote code execution as root or denial of service.

NCSC-NL published an advisory summarizing Juniper Networks' October 2026 security bulletins, which resolve 15 vulnerabilities spanning numerous Junos OS components including the VXLAN Gateway Daemon (vgd), kmd on MX Series routers, the SDK/JDAF routing service, the TWAMP client (rmopd), the gRPC library, ipfd on SRX Series, the dot1x daemon on Fusion Aggregation Devices, the routing protocol daemon (rpd) on MX Series, jdhcpd, authd, kernel Extended Echo handling, pkid, UTM Anti-Spam SBL on SRX Series, the J-Web management interface, and srxpfe on SRX chassis-cluster configurations. Weakness classes include classic, stack- and heap-based buffer overflows, format string injection, integer underflow, signed/unsigned conversion errors, data amplification from highly compressed input, NULL pointer dereference, and reachable assertions.

An attacker can exploit these issues by sending specially crafted packets or messages, in many cases without authentication, to crash individual processes or the entire system (denial of service) or, in some cases, achieve arbitrary code execution with root privileges. Several vulnerabilities require specific features or configurations to be in use — Security Intelligence feeds, dot1x synchronization, HFRR link protection, DHCP client operations, RADIUS authentication, the Extended Echo feature, CMP enrollment, Anti-Spam SBL inspection, J-Web, or chassis-cluster fabric traffic. A subset can be triggered by an attacker already on the network or via a compromised external entity such as an SDN controller or RADIUS server.

Juniper has released updated Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved builds addressing all 15 CVEs; several carry CVSS v4 scores above 9.0, indicating high-impact, low-complexity attack paths. Defenders running affected Junos OS/Evolved versions — particularly MX and SRX Series devices and chassis-cluster deployments — should prioritize patching per Juniper's bulletins, restrict exposure of J-Web and other management interfaces, and review RADIUS/SDN-controller trust relationships that could be leveraged to reach vulnerable code paths. No in-the-wild exploitation is reported.
