> Emerson ValveLink products contain cleartext credential storage and other flaws allowing remote code execution; upgrade to version 14.0.

Emerson has patched five vulnerabilities across its ValveLink SOLO, DTM, PRM, and SNAP-ON product lines affecting all versions prior to 14.0. The most critical is CVE-2025-52579, a cleartext storage of sensitive information flaw in memory (CVSS 9.3) reachable over the network with low attack complexity. The vulnerability allows attackers with system access to read credentials, tamper with valve parameters, and execute unauthorized code. Additional flaws include improper protection mechanisms (CVE-2025-46358), local cleartext credential storage (CVE-2025-50109), uncontrolled search path issues (CVE-2025-48496), and input validation failures (CVE-2025-53471). ValveLink products are used in critical manufacturing infrastructure globally. CISA reports no current public exploitation, but the remotely-exploitable nature of the primary flaw and the sensitivity of industrial control applications warrant immediate patching. Emerson recommends upgrading to ValveLink 14.0 or later.

## Mentioned in this report

- Vulnerabilities: CVE-2025-46358, CVE-2025-48496, CVE-2025-50109, CVE-2025-52579, CVE-2025-53471

## Detection guidance (public sample)

### Emerson ValveLink Application Spawning Script Interpreter or Shell

ATT&CK: T1059.001

ValveLink SOLO/DTM/PRM/SNAP-ON processes spawning PowerShell, cmd or other script hosts, which may indicate code execution through the ValveLink vulnerabilities. Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.

```yaml
title: Emerson ValveLink Application Spawning Script Interpreter or Shell
id: 3338a7c3-006b-5547-8f50-19aee4254ada
status: experimental
description: Detects ValveLink (SOLO, DTM, PRM, SNAP-ON) processes spawning PowerShell,
  cmd or other script hosts. The advisory notes that the ValveLink flaws allow unauthorized
  code execution, and these engineering applications do not normally launch interpreters.
  This is a hypothesis-driven detection, because the advisory describes no observed
  exploitation and gives no process names, so the match relies on the product name
  appearing in the parent image path.
