Viessmann Vitogate 300 command injection and auth bypass

routine vulnerability infrastructure

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Two vulnerabilities in Vitogate 300 heating controllers allow command injection and client-side security bypass; upgrade to 3.1.0.1.

Viessmann Vitogate 300, a gateway device used in commercial building climate control systems, contains two vulnerabilities affecting all versions prior to 3.1.0.1. CVE-2025-9494 is an OS command injection flaw (CWE-78) that allows an attacker with high privileges and adjacent network access to modify OS commands sent to downstream components, potentially achieving code execution with high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability. CVE-2025-9495 is a client-side security enforcement bypass (CWE-602) that allows an unauthenticated attacker on the adjacent network to bypass client-side protections and cause unexpected interactions between client and server, also with high confidentiality, integrity and availability impact.

Neither vulnerability is remotely exploitable; both require adjacent network access, meaning the attacker must be on the same local network segment as the device. No public exploitation has been reported to CISA. The vulnerabilities are resolved in version 3.1.0.1. Vitogate 300 is deployed worldwide in commercial facilities such as office buildings and shopping centers. Viessmann is headquartered in Germany and the device is used in building automation and climate control infrastructure.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
