Kremlin info ops target Armenia with disinformation narratives

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Russian state-linked campaigns spread false 'Ukrainization' and 'second front' narratives on Telegram to undermine Armenia's EU integration and Western alignment.

Russian state-affiliated disinformation outlets, including the sanctioned Strategic Culture Foundation, have coordinated information operations targeting Armenian audiences via Telegram between January and September 2025. The campaigns amplify fearmongering narratives portraying Armenia's shift toward European integration and Western partnership as destabilization equivalent to 'Ukrainization'—a term weaponized to describe alleged Western-induced regime change. Two coordinated campaigns are documented: the first in January 2025 following the Armenia-US Strategic Partnership signing, originating from SCF and amplified across 36 Telegram channels reaching approximately 2 million users; the second in February-March 2025 involving a forged Ukrainian intelligence document planted through an Indian journalist (Manish Kumar Jha, implicated in Kremlin Operation Storm-1516) and republished by pro-Russian Armenian and Bulgarian channels. A third wave in July 2025 blamed Britain for orchestrating regional tensions. The operations employ Soviet-era tactics—planting disinformation in foreign media outlets (News Nine, Alpha News) to obscure Kremlin origin, then citing those foreign sources as validation in Russian-language propaganda channels. Narratives are timed to political moments (Armenia-US partnership, EU accession hearings) and exploit regional tensions (Azerbaijan-Russia police incidents). These campaigns target information environments rather than systems and are expected to intensify ahead of Armenia's June 2026 elections.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 614 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
