> CERT-FR advisory lists dozens of Linux kernel vulnerabilities across all supported Ubuntu releases, some enabling remote code execution and privilege escalation.

CERT-FR published a consolidated advisory covering multiple Ubuntu security notices (USN-8908-2 through USN-8933-1) issued between 13-15 October 2026, addressing a large batch of Linux kernel vulnerabilities. The affected releases span the full range of supported Ubuntu versions, from the long-unsupported 14.04 ESM through the newest 26.04 LTS, indicating the issues affect code present across many kernel branches maintained by Canonical's Extended Security Maintenance and LTS programs.

The vulnerabilities collectively enable a wide range of impacts: remote arbitrary code execution, local privilege escalation, remote denial of service, data integrity and confidentiality breaches, security policy bypass, and even web-related issues such as XSS and CSRF in kernel-adjacent components. No specific CVE is called out as under active exploitation in this bulletin; it is a standard patch-aggregation advisory rather than an incident report. Defenders running any Ubuntu release should apply the corresponding USN kernel updates referenced in the bulletin as part of routine patch management, prioritizing systems exposed to untrusted local users (privilege escalation risk) or network-facing services built on vulnerable kernel subsystems (remote DoS/RCE risk).

Given the breadth of affected releases and the volume of CVEs (over 70 referenced), organizations should track remediation through Canonical's Livepatch or standard kernel update mechanisms and verify kernel versions against the specific USN notices listed. No in-the-wild exploitation is claimed in this advisory.
