OS command injection in Westermo WeOS 5 allows admin-authenticated attackers to escalate privileges remotely; no active exploitation reported.

Westermo Network Technologies has disclosed an OS command injection vulnerability in WeOS 5, an industrial network operating system deployed across critical infrastructure sectors including energy, water systems, and manufacturing worldwide. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2025-46418, stems from unsafe handling of media definitions and allows attackers with administrative credentials to inject and execute OS commands with elevated privileges beyond their normal scope. The vulnerability affects WeOS 5 version 5.24 and later.

The attack requires administrative access, network connectivity, and user interaction (UI component), giving it CVSS v4 score of 8.7 and CVSS v3.1 score of 7.6. No public exploitation has been reported. Westermo recommends restricting administrative account access to trusted parties and enforcing strong password practices. CISA advises organizations to isolate control system networks from the internet, place them behind firewalls, and use VPNs for remote access. A software update from Westermo has not yet been announced.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
