Rockwell Automation Stratix IOS injection flaw enables remote code execution

routine vulnerability manufacturinginfrastructure

Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Unauthenticated remote code execution via malicious configuration upload in Stratix IOS 15.2(8)E5 and prior; patch to 15.2(8)E6 available.

Rockwell Automation Stratix IOS switches (models 5410, 5700, 8000) contain a CWE-74 injection vulnerability affecting versions 15.2(8)E5 and earlier. An unauthenticated attacker can remotely exploit this flaw by uploading and executing malicious configurations, gaining complete control over the affected device without authentication or user interaction required. The CVSS v3.1 score is 9.6 and CVSS v4 is 8.6, reflecting the severity of remote, low-complexity exploitation with high impact across confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

CISA has confirmed no known public exploitation in the wild at this time. Rockwell Automation has released version 15.2(8)E6 as the fix. This vulnerability originates from a Cisco-impacting issue that directly affects Stratix devices, which are critical infrastructure control-system switches deployed worldwide. Organizations running affected versions should prioritize patching, especially those with internet-facing or insufficiently isolated ICS networks.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
