> SonicWall patched four critical SMA1000 vulnerabilities, including a pre-auth SSRF and post-auth RCE via OS command injection, all CVSS 10.0.

NCSC-NL published an advisory on four critical vulnerabilities patched by SonicWall in its SMA1000 secure mobile access appliance. The flaws span both pre- and post-authentication contexts: a pre-authentication Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) allows unauthenticated attackers to make unauthorized internal requests, while a post-authentication OS command injection vulnerability enables remote code execution. Additionally, a Zip Slip path traversal flaw in the management console permits extraction of files outside intended directories, and a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the management console as well.

All four CVEs (CVE-2026-102255, CVE-2026-102256, CVE-2026-102257, CVE-2026-102258) carry a maximum CVSS v3 score of 10.0, reflecting severe impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of affected devices. These flaws affect core security mechanisms of the appliance, and the chain from pre-auth SSRF to post-auth RCE could allow a full compromise path for attackers targeting internet-facing SMA1000 deployments. No in-the-wild exploitation is reported in this advisory, but SonicWall SMA appliances have historically been popular targets for threat actors due to their internet-facing nature and VPN/remote access role.

Defenders running SonicWall SMA1000 appliances should apply the vendor-released updates immediately given the maximum severity scores, prioritize patching due to the pre-auth SSRF reachable without credentials, and monitor management console logs for anomalous file extraction activity or unexpected script injection consistent with the Zip Slip and XSS flaws respectively.
