Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.

Microsoft patches critical remote code execution vulnerabilities across Windows, Office, and Azure; no active exploitation reported.

CIS/MS-ISAC advisory 2025-036 documents Microsoft's April 8, 2025 security updates addressing multiple critical vulnerabilities in a broad range of products. The most severe flaws enable remote code execution with the privileges of the logged-on user, potentially allowing attackers to install programs, modify or delete data, or create privileged accounts depending on user rights context. The advisory lists over 50 affected components spanning Windows kernel and system services, Office applications, Azure products, Visual Studio, Edge, and remote access services. No evidence of in-the-wild exploitation exists at time of publication.

Defenders should prioritize patching across the full affected product stack immediately after appropriate testing. The advisory emphasizes applying mitigations specific to each vulnerability via Microsoft's official security updates. Exploitability is contingent on user privileges; systems configured with least-privilege access will suffer reduced impact from successful compromises. The breadth of affected components—from kernel-mode code to user-facing applications—suggests this is a standard Patch Tuesday release rather than a targeted or zero-day disclosure.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
