CERT-FR Warns of Multiple Xen Vulnerabilities

CERT-FR advisory covers multiple Xen hypervisor vulnerabilities enabling code execution, privilege escalation, DoS, and data exposure; patches required.

CERT-FR has published an advisory consolidating multiple vulnerabilities disclosed in the Xen hypervisor via eight Xen Security Advisories (XSA-514 through XSA-521) released on October 13, 2026. All versions of Xen lacking the latest security patches are affected. The vulnerabilities collectively allow attackers to achieve arbitrary code execution, privilege escalation, denial of service, and breaches of data confidentiality — a combination that is particularly significant for hypervisor software, where guest-to-host escapes or cross-tenant information leaks have outsized impact in multi-tenant and cloud environments.

The advisory references a mix of newly assigned 2026 CVEs (CVE-2026-102699 through CVE-2026-102702 and CVE-2026-79607 through CVE-2026-79611) alongside older CVEs dating back to 2017 (CVE-2017-14318, CVE-2017-5754 — the latter being the Meltdown speculative execution flaw) and 2023 (CVE-2023-20593, CVE-2023-34321), suggesting the bulletin bundles both newly discovered issues and previously known hardware/software side-channel or logic flaws still relevant to unpatched Xen deployments.

No detail is given on active exploitation in the wild; this is a vendor-coordinated patch advisory. Defenders running Xen-based virtualization infrastructure should consult the referenced Xen Security Advisories (XSA-514 to XSA-521) for affected version ranges and apply vendor-supplied patches promptly, prioritizing systems in multi-tenant or cloud hosting contexts where guest isolation failures carry the greatest risk.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.

It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
