Oracle Patches Dozens of Solaris, ZFS Flaws

routine vulnerability

Free public brief. Slack alerts on the vendors you run come with the paid plans, and a new account gets three days of them, no card.

CERT-FR relays Oracle's October 2026 CPU patching 27 vulnerabilities in Solaris 11.3/11.4 and ZFS Storage Appliance, some allowing remote code execution.

CERT-FR issued an advisory summarizing Oracle's October 2026 Critical Patch Update (CPU) affecting Oracle Solaris versions 11.3 and 11.4, as well as Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Kit version 8.8. The bulletin covers 27 distinct CVEs, some of which allow an attacker to achieve remote code execution, cause denial of service, bypass security controls, or compromise data confidentiality and integrity. No proof-of-concept exploitation or in-the-wild attacks are mentioned in the advisory.

As is typical for Oracle's quarterly CPU advisories, no technical details on individual vulnerabilities, attack vectors, or exploitability are provided in this CERT-FR summary; organizations should consult Oracle's official security bulletin (cpuoct2026) for per-CVE CVSS scores, affected components, and patch guidance. Defenders running Oracle Solaris or ZFS Storage Appliance should apply the October 2026 CPU patches as soon as operationally feasible given the presence of remote code execution vectors among the fixed issues.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries live profiles of the CVEs it names. The paid plans add the security research and news reporting the free tier leaves out.

It sits in a corpus of 13,960 reports from 143 sources, 519 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Slack alerts are a paid-plan feature: name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
