SonicWall SMA 1000 RCE via pre-auth deserialization flaw
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
Pre-authentication deserialization vulnerability in SonicWall SMA 1000 appliances allows unauthenticated remote code execution; active exploitation reported.
A pre-authentication deserialization vulnerability has been discovered in SonicWall Secure Mobile Access (SMA) 1000 Series Appliances affecting version 12.4.3-02804 and earlier. The flaw exists in both the Appliance Management Console (AMC) and Central Management Console (CMC), allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary OS commands under specific conditions. SonicWall PSIRT has confirmed active exploitation of this vulnerability by threat actors in the wild.
The vulnerability permits an attacker to bypass authentication and achieve remote code execution on affected appliances. Depending on the privilege level of the compromised context, an attacker could install programs, view, change, or delete data on the system. Since SMA appliances provide unified secure access to applications for remote employees, successful exploitation could grant attackers access to sensitive enterprise resources and data.
Organizations running affected SMA 1000 appliances should prioritize immediate patching after appropriate testing. The advisory recommends applying SonicWall's provided updates, implementing network segmentation to isolate management consoles, enabling anti-exploitation features, and conducting vulnerability scanning and penetration testing programs to identify and remediate this and similar exposures.

Java Process Spawning Shell With Download or Reverse-Shell Command (Linux)
A Java parent (e.g. a management console servlet container) spawning a shell that runs download, reverse-shell or decode-and-execute commands. This is the typical post-exploitation pattern of a pre-auth deserialization RCE such as the SonicWall SMA 1000 AMC/CMC flaw. Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.

deserialization RCE in web management consoles (e.g. SonicWall SMA 1000 AMC/CMC).
Requires process telemetry from the appliance or a forwarding host.

Java Process Directly Spawning Reconnaissance Utilities (Linux)
A Java parent directly launching identity or host discovery binaries, as an attacker would do to confirm command execution after exploiting a deserialization flaw in a Java-based management console. Auto-generated starting point — validate and tune in your environment before deploying. IOC matches can false-positive on shared infrastructure and decay as adversary infrastructure rotates.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
