EPICS Base flaws enable RCE, DoS

CISA warns of four memory-corruption flaws in EPICS Base ≤7.0.10 used in critical manufacturing control systems, patchable in 7.0.11; no known exploitation.

CISA published ICS advisory ICSA-26-300-01 detailing four vulnerabilities in EPICS Base, a widely-used control system software framework for critical manufacturing environments deployed worldwide. The flaws stem from an integer overflow in network request processing (CVE-2026-114595), improper validation of message length values causing out-of-bounds writes (CVE-2026-114596), and two instances of insufficient validation of element/length values in network messages leading to out-of-bounds reads (CVE-2026-114597, CVE-2026-114598, the latter involving type confusion). Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to cause denial-of-service, corrupt memory, disclose sensitive information, or potentially achieve remote code execution. CVE-2026-114595 carries a CVSS v3 score of 9.8.

All vulnerabilities affect EPICS Base release 7.0.10 and prior; the EPICS Community has released fixes via the epics-base and pvDataCPP GitHub repositories, and affected users should upgrade to the 7.0.11 release. The vulnerabilities were reported to CISA by Shubham Raj of Cipher/Causal Security. CISA states no known public exploitation targeting these vulnerabilities has been reported at this time.

CISA recommends standard ICS defensive measures: minimizing network exposure of control system devices, isolating control networks behind firewalls away from business networks, and using secure remote access methods such as VPNs where needed. Organizations should perform risk assessments before deploying mitigations and report any suspected malicious activity to CISA.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries live profiles of the CVEs it names. The paid plans add the security research and news reporting the free tier leaves out.

It sits in a corpus of 14,337 reports from 144 sources, 610 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Slack alerts are a paid-plan feature: name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
