CERT-FR warns of Danfoss AK-SM/AK-SC compromises
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
CERT-FR reports widespread compromises of internet-exposed Danfoss AK-SM and AK-SC refrigeration/building controllers, urging immediate network filtering and hardening.
CERT-FR has issued an alert concerning numerous security compromises affecting Danfoss AK-SM and AK-SC series devices, which are controllers commonly used in refrigeration and building management systems, notably in the energy and water sectors. The advisory does not specify the exploitation vector or attacker identity, but highlights that exposing these devices' management interfaces directly to the Internet is contrary to security best practices and appears to be a key factor enabling the compromises.
CERT-FR recommends immediate remediation for any organization suspecting compromise: restrict network access to the AK-SM/AK-SC instances to trusted service-provider IPs only, perform a factory reset of affected devices, apply all available security patches, rotate all secrets/credentials, audit existing accounts for unauthorized additions, and fully reconfigure the equipment. As a longer-term measure, CERT-FR points administrators to its hardening recommendations for energy and water sector operators (CERTFR-2025-DUR-003).
No CVE, threat actor, or malware family is identified in this bulletin; the risk level is explicitly "non specified by the vendor." Defenders operating these Danfoss controllers should prioritize auditing for Internet exposure and treat any Internet-facing instance as potentially compromised until verified.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,854 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
