CERT-FR Warns of .NET Privilege Escalation Flaws

elevated vulnerability

Free public brief. Slack alerts on the vendors you run come with the paid plans, and a new account gets three days of them, no card.

CERT-FR advisory details two privilege-escalation vulnerabilities in Microsoft .NET versions 8, 9, 10 and 11 across Windows, Linux and macOS; patches available.

CERT-FR has issued an advisory covering two vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-111497 and CVE-2026-114148) affecting multiple versions of Microsoft .NET. The flaws impact .NET 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 and 11.0 on Windows, Linux, and macOS, as well as .NET source-build Linux tarballs and ASP.NET Core runtime/targeting-pack Linux tarballs. Successful exploitation allows an attacker to achieve privilege escalation on affected systems.

Affected version thresholds include .NET 8.0 prior to 8.0.427, .NET 9.0 prior to 9.0.320, .NET 10.0 prior to 10.0.403, and .NET 11.0 prior to various 11.0.100-rc.3 builds, along with related source-build and ASP.NET Core tarball packages. No indication is given that these vulnerabilities are being exploited in the wild; this is a standard vendor-disclosed vulnerability advisory. Defenders running affected .NET runtimes should prioritize applying Microsoft's published updates per the referenced MSRC bulletins to remediate the privilege escalation risk.

What this brief leaves out

This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries live profiles of the CVEs it names. The paid plans add the security research and news reporting the free tier leaves out.

It sits in a corpus of 14,237 reports from 143 sources, 591 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.

A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Slack alerts are a paid-plan feature: name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
