CERT-FR Warns of Multiple Curl Vulnerabilities
Free public brief. The indicators, the detections with Splunk SPL already written (plus Elastic and KQL where they apply), and a Slack alert the next time this touches a vendor you run are in the app — free account, no card.
CERT-FR advisory lists numerous Curl vulnerabilities before version 8.23.0 enabling remote code execution, denial of service, and data exposure.
CERT-FR has published an advisory covering a large batch of vulnerabilities affecting Curl versions prior to 8.23.0. The advisory enumerates over 20 CVEs disclosed by the Curl project on 14 October 2026, along with references to additional older CVEs (including CVE-2020-8177 and CVE-2026-12064). Collectively, these flaws can lead to remote code execution, remote denial of service, bypass of security policy, and confidentiality breaches, though the French CERT does not provide technical details on exploitation, instead directing readers to the Curl project's own per-CVE security bulletins.
No in-the-wild exploitation is mentioned in the advisory. As Curl is a widely embedded library used across countless applications, operating systems, and devices for data transfer, the breadth of affected systems is potentially large, making patch management a priority for any organization running affected versions. CERT-FR's only stated remediation is to update to a fixed Curl release per the vendor's documentation.
Defenders should inventory their systems and software dependencies for bundled or standalone Curl installations below version 8.23.0 and apply the vendor patches referenced in the bulletin as soon as feasible. Given the number of CVEs and the presence of RCE-class issues, this should be treated as a priority patching exercise even though no active exploitation has been reported.

What this brief leaves out
This page is the free tier: the write-up, the severity, the names. In the app the same report carries its extracted indicators, its detections (Splunk SPL already written, plus Elastic and Microsoft KQL where they apply), the actors and CVEs it names as live profiles, and the vendor research on the same campaign — the primary source the news paraphrased, cited and read directly.
It sits in a corpus of 13,853 reports from 146 sources, 616 of them written in the last seven days, and it grows through the day.
A new account starts with three days of all of it, no card, then keeps the government and CERT reporting free. Name the vendors you run and Slack hears about the reports that touch them — about forty a week that are yours, not the four hundred that are not.
